Newsletter
Summer 2005
Dear Friends and Supporters of the Onward diocesan capital campaign,
Much has been happening since our May newsletter to you. Here are some highlights:
- June was an active month! New gifts from faithful donors and friends have grown the Onward Campaign to its new level -- almost $6 million. We're getting closer every day to our $7 million goal! Please pray for us as we go about raising the remaining funds.
- All Saints Camp & Conference Center -- In late June, a meeting was held to review the plans for the camp. In attendance were representatives from all aspects of the project - donors, campaign staff, bankers, builders, architects, clergy, and Episcopal Foundation trustees. All are dedicated to serving as good stewards throughout this amazing and historic project. After a blessing and groundbreaking by Bishop Stanton on July 16th, construction will begin officially any day.
Naming opportunities are still available, with two cabins left at $450,000 each. With two more cabins funded, we will be within a stone's throw of completing this campaign. Should you know of anyone who might be interested in making a donation, please let us know.
- Church Planting -- The evidence of God's work is tangible at the new St. Andrew's in West McKinney. A recent conversation with Father Michie detailed the miracles that are unfolding. "The church has grown by over 200 percent in the past four months," explains Father Michie, "and having the land is really helpful to our growth." A back-to-school Sunday is planned for August 14th, which includes a school supply drive and special blessings for students, teachers, parents, and the schools.
Donors interested in supporting the Diocese's important church planting efforts are encouraged to contact the Onward Campaign office.
A bit of housekeeping...Onward campaign director, Brownie Watkins, stepped down in June. Brownie says of her replacement, Tobie Smith, "She is a devoted Episcopalian with substantial development expertise and experience." Tobie can be reached at the campaign office address and phone. Brownie, as a volunteer, and Tobie, as the campaign director, will continue their mutual commitment to the campaign's goals and the important mission of the Episcopal Diocese of Dallas.
